Transcription: A special exhibition of Ru-I scepters. The Ru-I scepter became quite popular early in China's 6th Dynasty's period. At first it was used to scratch hard to reach itches. But in due course, people came to use the Ru-I scepter to point or beat out a rhythm while they were talking or singing. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was adopted by the Buddhist clergy as a symbol of solemnity and prestige. and even Taoist priests took it up as a ritual item. During the Five Dynasties, Song and Yuan periods, the handle of the Ru-i Scepter became flatter and wider than before. This allowed prayer texts ...
